  • International Day of the Girl Child

    • Every year 11th October celebrated as International Day of the Girl which is declared by United Nation. 11th Oct 2012 was first day of girls.
    • The observation supports more options for girls and increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender.
    • It include right to educate as well as vote, nutrition, place in goverment, equality in all field etc.

  • World Bank Reduces India GDP Growth Forecast to 7% for 2017-18

    • In the June quarter of 2017-18, the Indian economy decelerated to 5.7%, lowest since the economy grew at 5.3% in the March quarter of 2013-14.
    • In its South Asia Economic Focus (Fall 2017), the World Bank reduced India’s GDP growth forecast to 7% for 2017-18 from 7.2% estimated earlier.
    • Asian Development Bank cut their growth projections for India to 7% as well as Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) cut to 6.7%. (Source- Livemint)

  • Facebook India MD Umang Bedi steps down

    • Managing Director of Facebook India Umang Bedi resign from his position. He was appointed in 2016 after serving adobe in South Asia Region.
    • Sandeep Bhushan has been appointed as the interim Managing Director as Facebook searches for a full-time candidate for the role .

  • Goverment plans to give ease Aadhaar-mobile linking.

    • There multiple difficulties faced by user mainly senior citizen for linking adhar card with mobile number as proxy authetication required for it.
    • Some options being consider by goverment as OTP(One time password) for mobile register with UIDAI as well as iris scanning for per sons whose fingerprints are indistinct and home visits for senior citizens.(Source- Times of India)
  • Australia beat India by 8 wickets.

    • In 2nd T20I, Australia beat India by 8 wickets to level series 1-1

    • The series decider will be played in Hyderabad on Friday.

  • Simona Halep to win China Open

    • Simona Halep in straight sets to win the women singles title of the China Open and Caroline Garcia of France came out.
    • She also became the first ever player to win the Dongfeng Motors Wuhan Open and the China Open in the same year.
